Three Portuguese dailies have published excerpts of a statement from the Inter Milan star, relayed through his manager: "After the agreement reached on January 4th, 2007, Al-Ittihad have not respected the duties that were agreed to in the signed documents... since it was a unilateral violation, no financial compensation is foreseen."
Figo has been rumored to have been contacted by at least one team in MLS in the recent past and could again be a target. The 34-year-old has recorded 32 goals in 127 appearances for Portugal's national team and has played for Barcelona (1995-2000) and Real Madrid (2000-2005), where he was teammates with David Beckham for several years during the height of the club's "Los Galacticos" days.
