"Taylor has just re-signed a long-term contract with the league, so it would have to be a situation where it made sense for everyone," continued Burns. "But we are not looking to lose Taylor. It would be very difficult to replace him."
Preston North End, perhaps most famously known for having David Beckham suit up for them five times in 1995, is struggling mightily in the 2007-08 season, sitting last of the 24 Championship teams. They have scored just 12 goals in 26 games, making the acquisition of a proven goal-scorer a top priority for the club if they are to avoid relegation.
Twellman has certainly proven himself in MLS, scoring 91 times in 156 regular season appearances and adding 10 more goals in 21 career playoff games. He has also been a major player for the U.S. National team, tallying six times in 29 appearances.
