Zidane Mulling Return

For the first time since the 2006 World Cup Final, French superstar Zinedine Zidane has publicly admitted that he would like to make a comeback in professional football.In an interview for L'Equipe Magazine set to be published tomorrow, the 35-year-old Zidane confesses that he misses the sport and would like to make a return in some capacity, a statement that is sure to kick up the Zizou-to-MLS rumors once more. ZZ also expresses remorse about his final moment in the world spotlight, which saw him sent off for famously headbutting Italy's Marco Materazzi shortly before France's defeat on penalty kicks.

"I wanted to leave football in another way," said Zidane. "But it's over now. It's good to talk about it, to close the debate once and for all. But I'll carry it with me for the rest of my life."

Persistent rumors have linked Zidane with a move to Major League Soccer since his retirement, especially following the LA Galaxy's signing of David Beckham, who was a teammate of Zidane for several years at Real Madrid.

"Quitting football for a break is very pleasing at first," he said. "But eventually it begins to feel like something is missing. As such, I'm attracted to a return to football. But I can't tell you right now in what way."
