Maykel Galindo has been named MLS Player of the Week. The Chivas USA forward scored the first two goals of his MLS career, the first one just 28 seconds into the game, in a 4-0 stomping of Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.
Galindo, 26, sought political asylum in 2005 when as a member of the Cuban national team he left the team hotel in Seattle and was taken in by a Seattle family.
TJ's take: I was at the game on Saturday night and was thoroughly impressed with Galindo. Along with Razov, Kljestan and Panchito Mendoza, their offense is firing on all cylinders right now, and could make the Goats the team to beat in the West, and maybe the entire league.
