The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee has announced fines and suspensions for the past week in league play.
- Columbus Crew forward Andy Herron has been suspended for four games and fined $3,000 for connecting with an elbow to New England Revolution defender Jay Heaps. Revs' midfielder Shalrie Joseph was fined $500 for shoving Herron in the face after the incident.
- Chivas USA midfielder Sacha Kljestan has been suspended for two games and fined $1,000 for his poor judgment when tackling Real Salt Lake's Andy Williams from behind. Kljestan was originally served with a yellow card during the game, but after review, the committee felt that the challenge was an unequivocal red card offense and suspended him accordingly. Williams will miss the next 4-8 weeks with a high ankle sprain.
TJ's take: I was in the stands when Williams was tackled by Sacha and I fully expected Kljestan to pick up a red card. Unfortunately, his suspension will keep him out of this Saturday's SuperClasico against the L.A. Galaxy. I was hoping Chivas would be able to field all of their "stars" so it would feel that much better when the Galaxy rip them a new one.
