The new stadium being built for the New York Red Bulls will not be ready by next summer. According to Ives Galarcep, Red Bull Park will more likely be ready later in the fall of 2008, due to land cleanup issues. New Jersey land in need of severe clean-up? Who woulda thunk it? However - if this coming winter is a relatively warm one, work could speed back up on the project.
TJ's take: If the stadium won't be ready until late 2008, it makes more sense to hold off until 2009 and start the year with a celebration, rather than playing 2 or 3 home games at the new park at the end of the year. It would also give the under-achieving RBNY front office a little more time to get their act together and promote the hell out of the new project.
For those of you wanting to keep an eye on the progress at that stadium's site, there is a webcam you can check out.
