Lalas Calls Premiership 'Inferior'

Well, it's been about six hours since Alexi Lalas has said something completely ridiculous, so kudos to him for showing restraint I never thought he had.
In his latest attempt to grab headlines, the Los Angeles Galaxy general manager hit back against British critics of Major League Soccer's quality of play. His counter-argument: The Premiership is actually the weaker league.

"There's no accounting for bad taste," Lalas said in an interview with the Guardian. "That a segment of the world worships an inferior product in the Premiership is their business. The Premiership has become so skilled in presentation. This is high-caliber marketing - taking an inferior product and improving it through packaging."

Lalas continued by saying David Beckham moved to America, not to fade into retirement as many European nay-sayers claim, but instead, because he wanted the challenge.

"It's insulting to say Beckham is on his way to Hollywood when he's coming to play in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. There are a lot of stars who would struggle here."

Well, I wouldn't say the Premiership is worse then the MLS, but I think the MLS is a lot better then it gets credit for. Sure Man U might be able to come over and easily get into the playoffs, but I bet any MLS team could beat them, or give them a competitive game.

Should there be a Salary Cap in Football?
Personally I think there should be! It’s just getting to be stupid money in football at the top of the premiership!
It’s always the same teams at the top proving that football success is based purely on money which ruins the idea of it being a sport! They’ve done it in rugby, basketball, hockey and American football and it makes the sports more competitive and better to watch!
I do a little Sports Spread Betting from time to time and most matches don’t hold much surprise who is going to win, its boring! I want to see a team at the bottom pulling off an amazing season beating last seasons winners in a close fought battle!
Make things fair! It shouldn’t be about money!
