Marcelo Salas Offered Contract By Fire

Marcelo Salas has been offered a contract by the Chicago Fire, according to the Washington Post's Steven Goff. The 32-year-old Chilean, who was had stints with River Plate, Lazio and Juventus among others, has been training with the club for roughly two weeks.
According to Goff, the contract would pay Salas somewhere in the range of $22,000 per month for the rest of 2007. For next year, the club would cough up a $100,000 signing bonus and offer Salas a 2008 salary of $265,000, assuring that he will not be counted as a DP if the Fire get their way in negotiations.

El Matador, as he is known in Chile, made 65 appearances for his country's national team between 1994-2005, scoring 35 goals in that time. Salas has been without a club since Universidad de Chile released him as they were facing bankruptcy.

How will Blanco and Salas' egos fit on the same field?

With roughtly 4 months left on the Fire's schedule. Will approx. $90,000 this year and $265,000 next year with another $100K be enough? Not sure how much he could get anywhere else, but I would think he could probably make double that some other place.
