Real Salt Lake 0 - New England 0

Real Salt Lake and New England battled to a 0-0 draw in Massachusetts on Saturday.

Despite being out-shot 23-8 and being down a man for the last 10 minutes, RSL managed to hang on and earn a point on the road. It was the fourth tie in their last five league games.

RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando, who had practically been thrown to the wolves a few weeks ago, made 13 saves against the Revolution and kept Taylor Twellman off the scoresheet. "We keep getting better so the tie is a plus for Salt Lake for sure. We had a plan going in to try to get a shutout and get some opportunities. To come into New England and get a point is pretty hard. For us, that's a big success."

Newly-signed RSL defender Ritchie Kotschau made his debut in the 81st minute of the game, only to be sent off less than a minute later for his tackle on Bryan Byrne. Referee Baldomero Toledo is apparently red-card-happy lately, as he is the official who sent off the L.A. Galaxy's Kyle Martino early in last weekend's matchup versus Colorado.

With the tie, RSL remains winless on the year at 0-3-6 (6 points), tied for last in the West with the aforementioned Galaxy. They now have 12 days to figure out how to get a win - their next game comes on June 14, an ESPN2 Thursday night home tilt against FC Dallas.

New England moves to 5-2-3 (18 points) on the season, a single point behind upstart Kansas City and one point clear of the New York Red Bulls in the East. The Revs face an even longer layoff than RSL - their next game will be on June 16th, at home against the Columbus Crew.
