Anschutz Entertainment Group is prepared to sell the Chicago Fire, with former player Frank Klopas part of an investment group that is readying a bid for the club. A second group also has interest in buying the team, with Klopas speculating that the opposing group could be a top European or South American club.
Klopas, who scored six goals as a forward for Chicago in 1998–1999, estimates the Fire’s price tag to be roughly $30-35 million, around the same amount that AEG sold D.C. United for earlier this year.
