The New York Red Bulls are leaving no stone unturned in their search for a new head coach, with their list of leading candidates apparently being every other current MLS head coach.
After buying out the remaining contract of Bruce Arena for $1.2 million, the club requested - and was initially denied - permission to speak to Chicago Fire coach Juan Carlos Osorio.
Now, the LA Times is reporting that Red Bull New York has also contacted Chivas USA head coach Preki to gauge his interest in the position, with the two parties meeting during MLS Cup 2007. The only two-time MVP in the history of the league, Preki was named 2007 MLS Coach of the Year after guiding Chivas to its best season ever (15-7-8), though they were eliminated in disappointing fashion in the first round of the playoffs.
