Galaxy Jersey Sponsor Candidates Revealed

According to SignOnSanDiego.com's Mark Zeigler, the two companies vying for the ad that will be placed on the front of the Los Angeles Galaxy 2007 uniforms are Citibank and Herbalife. Citibank has reportedly offered $49 million for a five-year sponsorship deal and appears to be leading in the chase for the rights to be on David Beckham's first MLS jersey.

To put the offer into perspective, Manchester United's four-year jersey-front deal with AIG is worth around $110 million. If the Citibank offer is correct, it would blow away the only other similar jersey-front sponsorship deal. In that deal, XanGo will pay Real Salt Lake between $4-5 million for the right to have their name splashed across the front of the RSL jersey for four years. Keep in mind that the deal was brokered in the pre-David Beckham era.
