Bruce Arena's Red Bull New York side has continued their fine form to begin the 2007 season with a solid 1-0 victory on the road against FC Dallas. The lone goal came from Hunter Freeman in the 79th minute, blasting a shot past Shaka Hislop and into the top corner.
New York has not allowed a goal in all four of their games this season (360 minutes), an MLS record for longest shutout streak to begin a season. In addition, goalie Ronald Wattereus has been in net for 315 of those shutout minutes, also an MLS record.
With the win, RBNY improves to 3-0-1 on the year, the best record in MLS. FC Dallas is, for the moment, one point clear of Chivas USA for the lead in the West, but Chivas has two games in hand as they head into the first SuperClasico of the year against the L.A. Galaxy on Saturday night.
