Eddie Johnson Named Player of the Week

Kansas City Wizards forward Eddie Johnson has been named MLS Player of the Week for week 8. Johnson tallied a hat trick in Saturday's game against the New England Revolution, finding the net in the 26th, 38th and 82nd minutes, with the last strike becoming the game winner.
Johnson, recently named to the U.S. roster for the upcoming Gold Cup, is the first two-time winner this season - he also won POW honors in Week 2 for his 1-goal, 2-assist performance in a win over D.C. United.

Johnson doubled his goal total for the 2007 campaign - he now has six goals and is just one behind New England's Taylor Twellman for the league lead. The Wizards will host the New York Red Bulls this Saturday, giving Johnson one more chance to tie Twellman before they both are called into camp for the national team.
