Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan doesn't want anything to do with Copa America (June 26 - July 15). He is discussing a solution with head coach Bob Bradley that would allow him to rejoin the struggling Galaxy after the Gold Cup instead.
"He definitely wants me to go to both, he made that very clear. I told [Bradley] how I feel and I told him I'd give it a little bit of thought. By the end of this week, I want to come up with a decision that we're both fine with and just get it over so I'm not worrying about Gold Cup, so we know what's going on and we can get on with it."
Bradley is expected to name around 10 or so players to the roster for both events. Since the MLS schedule doesn't stop for ANYTHING, many players will be away from their clubs for at least three weeks and those pulling double-duty can expect to be away from their teams for twice that.
I'd expect the majority of international players will be the ones pulling double-duty, but Chivas USA head coach Preki has said that goalkeeper Brad Guzan and defender Jonathan Bornstein would be on both rosters.
