The Chicago Fire have chosen Juan Carlos Osorio to fill their head coaching vacancy, created after the firing of Dave Sarachan in late June.
Osorio, who had been coaching Colombian side Millonarios, has also been an assistant manager with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars (2000) and Manchester City (2001 - 2006) in his career. He led Millos to a fourth-place finish in the Colombian spring season, helping the Bogota-based club earn a berth in the Copa Sudamericana, but has a tough task ahead of him in turning the Fire into winners again.
Chicago has just one league win since the beginning of May en route to a dismal record of 1-7-2 after flying out to a 3-0-1 start in April. The team currently sits in last place in the East, but are just eight points behind conference leaders D.C. United as the All-Star Break approaches.
