Luis Bueno is reporting on his blog 'Sideline Views' that Juan Sebastian Veron "has apparently narrowed his choices down to two clubs: Estudiantes of Argentina or D.C. United."
Veron, 29, has spent time with Boca Juniors, Sampdoria, Manchester United and Inter Milan, among others. For the 2006-2007 season, he received offers from Boca Juniors and River Plate, but decided to return to Estudiantes, helping them in 2006 to win the Apertura tournament for the first time in 23 years.
On the national scene, Veron was a member of the 1998 and 2002 World Cup squads for Argentina and was recently called back to the national team for Copa America 2007. Overall, he has earned 60 caps and tallied nine goals for 'Albicelestes.'
The Argentinian midfielder would almost certainly count as United's DP if they chose to sign him, with a figure of $20 million being bandied about. It's hard to fathom that high of a figure, as it would put Veron in the same league monetarily as David Beckham.
