Houston Sets All-Time Mark

The bar for the all-time MLS shutout streak has just been raised by the Houston Dynamo. By playing 10-man Toronto FC to a 0-0 tie at Robertson Stadium on Sunday, 695 minutes have passed since the Men in Orange last conceded a goal. The previous record of 681 minutes had been established by Kansas City in 2000.

In the game, Toronto went a man down shortly before halftime when midfielder Maurice Edu was sent off for elbowing Brian Mullan in the face. But Houston could not take advantage, instead settling for the scoreless draw.

It was the tenth straight league game without a loss for Houston, with their last defeat coming at the hands of D.C. United in late May. With the point, Houston extends their lead of FC Dallas to two points in the West.

Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear: "I told the guys in the last 10 games we're eight wins and two draws. We're disappointed because the guys are hungry for more wins, and they feel we should've won. I'm disappointed we didn't win this game, but you're looking at a happy coach with a team that's on top of the league."
