Los Angeles Galaxy and England midfielder David Beckham is set to train with Arsenal of the English Premier League for around a month of the MLS off-season, according to Gunners skipper Arsene Wenger.
Beckham, who last suited up for the Galaxy in the team's 3-1 exhibition victory over A-League side Wellington Phoenix at the start of December, is hoping to keep his profile high in the mind of new England coach Fabio Capello ahead of a February 6th friendly against Switzerland. If selected to the squad, it would be Beckham's 100th career cap, a milestone the superstar has long had his sights set on.
"We will help him to get fit and prepare for the season. There's a good chance that he will come in January, but it's not decided. He has 99 caps and I hope he will get 100, if not 100 then 120," said Wenger. "At his age, he needs to keep fit."
Wenger immediately dismissed the possibility of the club trying to add Beckham to the lineup permanently, however, saying: "He comes (only) to keep fit and work hard."
